STUDENTS OF KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY STAGE PROTEST..
On the 14th of April, 2016. Kogi State Chapter of ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike due to the Non-Payment of Lecturers Salary.
They further accused the Governor of the state, Governor Yahaya Bello of lack of concern to the plight of the lecturers.
Reports however reaching us stated that the Governor has paid the Salaries of the Lecturers but exclusive of Allowances.
Which has meant the strike continues further. Amidst the whole drama ensuing between the state Government and the striking lecturers is the Students who are tired of staying at home when they are suppose to be in school.
The protest was scheduled for today July 14th to mark exactly 3months of the strike. As of time of filing this report the protest has began in the States capital, Lokoja.
With protesters matching through the street of Lokoja to the Government house.
The lecturers embarked on strike to press home demands for their 5 months salary arrears. The state government reportedly paid 4 months of the salary arrears.
The Union, however, insisted on getting their demands in full as issues bothering on the 1 month outstanding salary and tax rebate lingered.
