"The President Is Fine And Has Been Performing His Duties."
The presidency has responded to reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is ill and suffering from ear infection.
It was reported that the president cancelled his scheduled trip to Ogoniland due to the infection and he was later replaced at the ceremony by his vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The Nation reports that Mr Femi Adeshina who is the special adviser to the president on media and publicity denied the claim that Buhari was sick.
Adeshina said the president was fine and duly discharging his presidential duties. “It is not true. It is the imagination of the writer. The President is fine and has been performing his duties.”
Premium Times had reported that the president has an infection in his left ear, otherwise called Meniere Disease, a challenge which has drastically reduced his outings in the last one week.
It was suggested that a result of the infection, the president now suffers hearing impairment and routinely complains of severe pains and unusual sounds from that ear, those familiar with his condition told newsmen. The Peoples Democratic Party was the first to publicise the alleged illness of the president.
The opposition party claimed the president is likely to be flown out of the country for medical treatment abroad on the guise of a foreign trip. The PDP insisted that the president was secretly receiving treatment in Aso Rock.
