UNBELIEVABLE: See what the Nigerian Army did in a Community in the Niger-Delta (Photos)
On 3rd june 2016 at Ororekpe, Delta State. The 19, Battalion of the Nigerian Army organized a Peace Exercise.
By 7:38am same morning the Officiating Commander Addressing the participants of the exercise amongst which were members of the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police Force, National Youth Corps members, Redeemed Army Volunters, Boys Brigade, Local Vigilante Groups, Man O War, Civil Defence and Various Para-Military Groups. The Presiding Commander explained the reason for the Exercise.
He Stated: "It serves as a Peace and awareness incentive for the People of the community to be aware of the presence of Security Operatives in the area." He also mentioned it as being a way to ward of Hooligan and Criminals. All was aimed as forestalling peace in the Community.
A road-walk commenced at 7:42am along the streets of Ororekpe, which was accompanied with drums, chants, matching, singing and finally a jogg. A stop was made at an open field where partipants were arranged in rows and given a rigorous drill after which they were treated to an amazing refreshment and the Exercise came to a close with participants returning to their various destination(s).
An interview with one of the participants, a Corper in a statement said "The exercise was fun and rigorous but i enjoyed every moment of it and even if we had to drive for hours from Koko town of Warri-North, Delta state. I am happy to be here and look forward to another road-walk".
Others participants interviewed stated their joy and the fact that the Nigerian Army was the pillar of the peace and unity in Nigeria. Others explained that it gave them a new look of the Nigerian Army as not being "intimidators" but are peace loving and very friendly.
As of the time of filling these reports we have spoken with several Army officials on the benefits of the Exercise and they pledged to make it a continous exercise in other communities. We know that the Units is working to better the lives of the people in Nigeria by providing peace.
As the continue to risk their lives to protect the Country, may we treat them with absolute respect and honor.
