Stakeholders Forum On Fostering Peaceful Coexistence Between Farmers, Host Community And Herdsmen.
The meeting which was held yesterday at the unity hall, government house of delta state capital territory Asaba , present at the meeting were representatives of traditional rulers’ council, communities, farmers, local government council chairmen, Miyetti Allah, Miyetti Allah Cattle Dealers Association, Cattle Breeders Association, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim leaders, civil society organisations, the military, Police, Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as the Nigeria Immigration Service.
This meeting is held to find lasting solution between cattle herdsmen and host community crises, as like minds directing convention of host community, the crises between herdsmen and farmers has been an hindrance situation which prevent the present generation, expectedly in the first 5moths 2016, 29caeses of herdsmen and local farmers was recorded 13persons sustain injurer,13 died, 12cows killed and 12suspends arrested, statistics has shown crisis skyrocket between the first part of 2016.
Sincerely specking it is not all incidences of violence been parroted against farmer that are to be credited to herdsmen vis versa, it is on recorded that the Hausa criminally minded individual who are out for mischief thus going about their criminal activities.
The Farmer Speech: the spoke man and secretary to farmers association in delta state, stated is point of view that the cows those herdsmen carry about are not theirs, rather they are serving as tools to the top political bodies, our leaders who are the true owners of those cows , the famers fears for their life’s that the cattle herdsmen are treat to their life and several death rate and rape incident has been carryout has been recorded in the past and also he appeal on behalf of all farmers to the state government to do something about the issue at hand.
The Chairman Of All Farmers Association Speech: He says that those cattle rears carry guns these days and what wondering what could be the relationship between cattle ad gun, he states that farmers and cattles reare are all farmers and there advice that everyone should ot itrude in the orders busies. The solution he proposed was that there should be a limitation to the views of the cattle reares ad the farmers should be address.
The Secretary Miyetti Allah Cattle Dealers Leader: He state by saying that the Hausa people are peace loving pple, there for he says that Hausa and Fulani are one also says that the Hausa Fulani has also loss several life’s as orders are complaining ad pray to Allah to profaned solution the problem at hand . the Fulani according to what a brother sated during his speech says that they are carrying ak47 and ask where are they getting the weapons from.
He says that they the Hausa Fulani knows that there are bad once among them and they suggest that for delta state to be in peace they will want to setup a commit on the advisory sector, a vigilante comity of a Fulani committee on agreement with the famers, rural ladders, police army and the civil defense government group that they what to arrest the bad once among them by their self’s , he says they know the bad once among them and can tackle it effectively if grated their wishes and says that anyone who object to it is part of the crime that has been going on. And assure the government that within 4months to 6moths the problem will be over.
He says if anybody from any community among the Fulani and host community member that object to it should be address as one of them. Franklyn speaking 95 out of 100 of the cows belong to lots of generals, police, senators and order dignitaries in Nigeria. He says that between January 2015 till date they lost 76cows from January 2015 to date.
The Governors Speech: The governor says that in life our approach to things matters a lot, however we realize that the criminal herdsmen among them are community evokes and it is a course for all of us to be worried, for those with herdsmen arms am sure they have order mission, and no person is allowed to carry weapons except security agents, in order to live harmoniously and able to tract those destroying our crops cause it is an offence, for any man carrying weapon is a criminal and such persons must be punish according to the law. Until we are able to stop them lets not continue to create problem for us in our own community, he also talks to the immigration officials to take their duty seriously in other to ensure safety of the citizens and preventing intruders from entering into the country.
