Union workers protest in Lagos, demand eviction of chairman
According to an eye witness, the protest could have led to be a bloody clash between two livid factions if not for the timely intervention of the security operatives.
An eye witness who also doubles as member of the union said for over eight years Mustapha Adekunle has been tormenting traders and union workers in Oyebanji.
He paraded himself as chairman of the union for over eight years in bad light. He alleged that he (Seego) has jeopardized the lives of many traders in the area, with some losing their lives in the process.
He said: “Seego must go, for eight years we have continued to suffer under him. He parades himself as God and even when we petitioned the Lagos state Commissioner of police, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu about his antecedents in the area, he said he has good a relationship with all of them and no one can remove him.”
As at the time of filing this report, there was heavy presence of security operatives in the area to ensure safety of lives and passers-by. Many of the union members carried placards with statements like “Seego must go”, “Seego is a murderer” amongst many others.
