AuntieOboshie Presents – a Showcase of Ghanaian Fashion from the 60s till date

AuntieOboshie (formerly FashionistaGH), the premier media resource that promotes Ghanaian fashion to the world, hosted an installation exhibition with Ghana’s leading fashion brands on the 24th of April 2016 at the Accra International Conference Centre. The exhibition took guests on a journey through time by showcasing the story of Ghanaian fashion from the 60s till now.

The exhibition, a celebration of Ghanaian fashion through the years, featured 59 installations that showcased different eras in Ghanaian Fashion. Brands presented various clothing that showcased Ghanaian Fashion style as it was in the Past (60s through to the 90s) and then Ghanaian Fashion as it is now.

The foyer of the Conference Centre came alive with models in puffy-sleeved tops, bell-bottom pants, Afro-wigs, political suits, traditional Krobo beads, African threaded hair, garments made from Ghanaian Batik print… you name it!

Participating designers included Nayak Afrik, Chez Julie since 1960, N’Kya, Abrantie, Ameyo, Aya Morrison, Privonne, Afriken, Sa4a, WEAR Ghana, Krakye, Ojeanne Clothing, Chapter One Classics, Tony Black Couture, Adorn Jewelry, Afiyo Creations, Sarah Christian, 1981, Bohten, DoNeal and also fashion students from Radford University.
