40-Year-Old Man Molests Deaf And Dumb Lady In Osun....
Kamoru Shittu, a 40-year-old man, has been arraigned for allegedly taking undue advantage of a deaf and dumb lady.
The incident which is being prosecuted by the Osun state police command, reportedly took place at the premises of the Osun state secondary school for persons with special needs.
The two-count charge against the man was that he had carnal knowledge of the 21-year-old student on March 7, at about 10pm and that he assaulted her. “That you, Kamoru Shittu, aged 40, on March 7, 2016, at about 10pm, at the State of Osun Secondary School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one female, ( name withheld) aged 21, a deaf and dumb student of the school.
“That you, Kamoru Shittu, on the same date and place did unlawfully and indecently assault the victim,” read the charge sheet in part.
Mereti Wilson, the IPO in charge of the case, told the court that the actions of the accused contravened Section 357 and is punishable under Sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, vol. II, Law of Osun state of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges while Bola Ige, who represented him in court, applied for his bail, on the premise that the constitution presumed him innocent until proven guilty.
A. A. Olowolagba, who presided over the case, admitted Shittu to bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in the same amount and adjourned till May 19, 2016.
